When Hanneke & Marieke – founders of Essence of Yin – asked me if I wanted to visually bring their beautiful idea of a card deck that combines yin yoga, essential oil and affirmations to life, I of course immediately said YES!

Essence of Yin was created from the holistic view of the Wu Xing: a philosophical view of all natural phenomena on earth. The elements fire, earth, metal, water and wood each have their own life themes and challenges. In the brand design & card deck you will find every element with unique hand-painted artworks with ink that make these themes visual in color, shape and symbolism.

And.. what I really enjoyed in this project is the co-creation with Sanne Marije Sanders, who beautifully illustrated the 35 different yoga poses for the card deck.
